Mad cow disease
Bovine spongiform encephalopathy, commonly known as mad cow disease, is a brain disease of cattle that can apparently (and rarely) be transmitted to humans by eating infected meat.
According to the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, there have been 153 cases of human infection reported in the world since the first case was identified in 1995. In the U.S. there have been three confirmed cases of Mad cow disease in cows, and three confirmed cases in humans.
